Missed out on casting your ballot in the last election? No worries, there’s still time to vote — this time for a local favorite: Tervoerke Tripel. The homegrown beer from Tervuren has been nominated for the coveted “Product Made in Flemish Brabant” award for the first time. That marks a milestone.

Dimitri Tips, co-founder of Tervoerke, has nurtured a passion for beer from a young age. “It all started with collecting beer mats as a child. Later, for my thesis, I interned at a major Leuven brewery,” Tips shared with Tervuren+.

Tervoerke is more than just a brew — it’s a story, Tips says. Alongside co-creator Anirudh Bobbili, he purchased a brewing installation in 2020, dedicating two years to perfecting their first release, the Tervoerke Tripel. “The coronavirus lockdown gave us the time to really focus on experimentation. Our tripel stands out because of its distinctive spiciness,” Tips noted. “It’s different from other Tripels. That uniqueness has piqued people’s curiosity. They’re pleasantly surprised once they taste it.”

With a clear passion for craft brewing, Tips emphasizes that Tervoerke isn’t aiming to challenge multinational giants. "Our goal is to create beers with a rich, recognizable flavor that people enjoy, while also sharing the story behind them," he explained. This narrative-driven approach, he says, is something often absent from large commercial brands.

Brewed at the Craywinckelhof Brewery in Lubbeek, Tervoerke Tripel is now available in roughly 30 shops, cafés, and restaurants across the region. The “Product Made in Flemish Brabant Award” recognizes exceptional local craftsmanship, highlighting producers like Tervoerke for their contribution to regional quality and tradition.

The public has until Sunday, November 3, to cast their vote for this local gem. Don’t miss out — support your community and vote for Tervoerke Tripel: https://www.made-in.be/stem
